Default Handle bar break down

Hi!

not only am I new here I’m also new to the

sport. I have maybe 10 hrs on a bike... working on getting my license come spring. I just picked up a 2003 cbr600. While I was giving it a little run time in the garage I noticed the end on the right handle bar was loose. When I went to tighten the bolt I noticed the throttle would no longer return. I took it off and started adding washers, but as I did it seemed like what I was threading into kept moving into the bar. I tried putting some thread lock on the bolt to try and getting it back but now it just spins. How does this come apart?

Can you show a photo of the handle bar end? It's possible that your bike is fitted with a ThrottleMeister. That is a type of throttle lock that will hold your throttle engaged while riding on the highway. It's a type off relatively poor mans cruise conrol. A photo would help identify that though. Nice looking ride BTW.

It doesn't look like a Throttlemeister. I think this will help you. This is the same on most Honda's.

It could be that the retaining clip has been damaged as per the video which would cause the bar end to spin when trying to fully tighten it up.
