Default is this guy for real?

hello everybody. first off i should let you know that i do not own a cbr, but i'm fairly certain it will be my next motorcycle purchase.

i need to tell a little story to explain the purpose of my generally stupid question.

so, my buddy just got a brand new harley sportster 1200. we were recently hanging out, drinking beer and talking about bikes. he started talking about how much better and faster his bike was running as he approched the 1000 mile mark. i told him that if he was looking for speed he should have got a sport bike. he came back with something about how he didin't want to go 200 and the torque of his harley was blah blah blah. somehow, the conversation (on his end) got really technical. he was spewing out info on torque curves and dyno sheets and a bunch of other stuff that was way over my head. it got even worse when i told him that my 28 year old CB750 would give his bike a run for his money in a 1/4 mile.

anyway, two days later i told this story to some random guy i saw who was riding a cbr1000. not sure which model but it looked pretty new and it was red. he told me his bike when stock would do 105mph in first gear when it redlined. wow man, that's crazy!

so, is this guy full of it or what?

is which guy for real the 1000RR or the sporster?

No a 1200cc harley will not beat a 600 or a 1000 street bike, even a modified harley.. And yes a 1000RR will do 105 in first.

I couldnt say for the newer models. Mine will do just about 90 in first. they geared the bikes way up for track use. It really doesnt say anything about the bike being fast, it just says the bikes first gear is really tall. They did this so they can get the next 5 gears ratios even closer. this allows the rider to be in the wrong gear and not totally be out of the power. But, my friends 05 R1 does do 105 in first.

OK just googled it, only harley that runs sub 12 is the vrod. Most 600s do low 11s high 10s.

This is weird maybe someone can tell me why, 01 f4i has around 96rwhp. Im guessing 01-03 all do. Now the 06 has 90rwhp. The 01 runs mid 10s and the 06 runs low 11s. Anyone wanna take a shot?

or weather conditions.. It is very much like all the guys I see using a dyno sheet as a bragging rights forum. Unless, the conditions, dyno and operator are the same. You won't have a consistent dyno. Hence the reason why I see guys from coast to coast with dyno sheets close but not close enough with like mods and sometimes way off based off of the dyno itself.

Track conditions also play a part even though you can get consistent runs with various tracks. Confused yet?

Haha nah not confused at all, just wondering why the same bikes with exact same engine and possibly weight have .5 off the et. I understand humidity, elevation, temperature etc etc.

I did 14.5 at englishtown in my car and a 15.1 best at epping in NH. But my guess would be they would at least try to get the conditions pretty close you know? But then again ive always read on here that the 01s seem to make more hp then other MY f4is

Yea and most cars even modded need at least a power to weight ratio of 1:5lb per hp.

Heres a scary comparison

Boeing 747-400 0.695 kW/kg (Max take-off weight)
Ducati 998R super bike 0.557 kW/kg (0.4 with rider)
