Gas Tank Leak, Need Advice

What's up all!,
For the past week my garage has been smelling real bad of gas fumes. I looked under my bike, quad and dirt bikes and saw no gas leakage on the floor or the bikes. Yesterday I go to get on the bike and notice it is leaking enough to very very very slowly drip onto my chain by the front sprocket. (since it is on the kick stand). I believe I have diagnosed that it is coming from the rubber seal/gasket on the underneath of the tank. It's hard to tell due to 90-100 mph winds making it all wet with gas under there. Has anyone else had or heard of this problem? And is there a quick fix? That being said...

Seems like in order to fix this is to replace the rubber seal/gasket around the fuel pump in the tank. Is this a beotch to do, or is it fairly simple. 06 f4i

the rubber gasket/seal i am talking about is the one around the massive hole in the bottom of the gas tank. seems like the fuel pump or a friggin huge petcock. any words of wisdom???

Its easy.Just undo all the bolts around the plate. You may have to wiggle it a bit to get it loose.Take the pump out very carefully.Get a new gasket.Dont try silicone cause it wont work for long and it will F-up your pump if it sucks it in.Do all the bolts back up a little at a time and dont reef them up.Just good and snug.Easy
