hi there, hope this is the right section but was wondering what fuel i should put in my 96 cbr f3?

should i just use regular unleaded or go for premium?

always use premium! it burns the best, which gives the bike better performance. Plus it keeps it cleaner than the regular stuff... and its not like its really expensive to fill up a bike lol

Been said a million times, and proved over & over...use the LOWEST octane that will NOT cause pinging. Higher octate will leave more carbon deposits on the valves and pistons, causing a decrease in performance over time. This is becuause higher octane does NOT burn cleaner or better.

If you are wondering what 'pinging' sounds like, think about what rocks would sound like in your engine, kinda like a big rattle. With an 11 or 12 year old bike, you may be somewhat out of tune or have build-updepositsin the motor which effectively raises compression and may create hot spots. With that said, premium may be a waste, but listen for a rattle on 87.

I run 87 due to the buildup that 93 causes. Ive never had a problem but hey I only have 1700 on the bike and at the dealership they told me to not run 93 cause the engine isnt built for 93 and has no problem runnin 87 all the time.

Thanks for answering, I have 10,000 miles on the bike now since new and have never heard pinking on either regular unleaded or premium, and the bike always feels the same on either too so just wondered what to do for the best.

I hear so much conflicting advice, some say premium burns better and cleaner then others say not?

IDK where the hell they are getting the idea that 89 is cleaner than 93. 93 has more detergents in it.

It burns cleaner, not IS cleaner. Higher octane fuel has more additives because of the refining process and therefore requires more lubricants and cleaners.
That's all I'm saying about this. I'm outta this flamewar.
