hey guys so basically my valve stem on my front wheel corroded and started to leak air. so i put my bike on stands and removed the front wheel and took it to a shop to have it replaced. everything is good, no leaks so i attempt to put the wheel back on the bike. axle in first, pinch bolts after and then calipers. after i thought i was done, i gave the wheel a spin and it didn't move at all. so i took off the calipers and gave it a spin so i can see whether it was a brake problem or an assembly problem, and the wheel spun so its def a caliper problem. i think it might be because of the brake pads being too close on the disc and not allowing it to rotate, any advice would help a lot!

 

What bike is it?

 

Remove the pad and push the pistons back on the calipers. Reinstall the calipers. I also like to bounce the front end and squeeze the brakes before getting everything tightened down to torque specs. There's also a procedure to which bolts are tightened in what order, prevents all sorts of problems.

 

its a 2002 f4i and it turns out that the brakes arent retracting. A buddy of mine told me to take apart the whole assembly again and make sure the wheel is centered and to also compress the forks and calipers to line everything up and then tighten the bolts to torque spec. im gonna try that when i get off work tonight, hoping it works

 

Did you mix up the wheel spacers? If you put them on the wrong side, the brakes will bind on the rotors.

 

from my understanding the fatter spacer goes on the throttle side and the smaller one goes on the clutch side, is that correct?

Hesh, did you find a solution? I have the same problem.. not sure if it's the spacers on backwards, or if it's a brake problem
