frame sliders
i just recently put on new frame sliders and on one side it's a little off, i used silly putty to find the spot where i needed to drill. for future reference does anyone know of a better way to get this dead center. here's the pics
here's the left side, not very good the bottom touches http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...cs/slider1.jpg here's the right side, getting better http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...cs/slider2.jpg |
RE: frame sliders
Don't know if you have the equipment for it, but you could set up a laser pointer and align it with the engine bolt while the fairing is off. Then just put the fairing back on without moving the bike or laser pointer (for obvious reasons) and voila. Mark it, drill the hole.

RE: frame sliders
I've been doing some research on this because some Vortex frame sliders are in the mail for me, here are some that I found:
Order this special tool: http://www.oesaccessories.com/F4/F4i.html This guy used the putty technique and it worked for him: http://www.rc51.org/slider.htm Here's a writeup on the laser technique and other suggestions: https://cbrforum.com/m_55748/tm.htm What do you think went wrong? Did you not align the panels properly when they had the putty on them? Drill in the wrong spot? Logically speaking, it should have lined up perfect using the method you did so I'm wondering where it went bad. I still am up in the air as to what I'm going to do but the putty one seems the best since I don't have a stand to put the bike on and haven't ordered the special tool. |
