Fork bottom bolt spinning?
Hi all,
Trying to take my fork apart and the bottom bolt just spins instead of loosening. I did initially loosen it, I felt it loosen but then afterwards it just spins together with the rebound cartridge. It neither loosens or tightens at this point
what Ive tried so far:
Fork cap off, pull up on damper while trying to loosen
All internals in, fork cap on and tight, compressed as much as possible and applied impact gun, didnt work so after 5min of heat gun (got nice and hot, was hoping to weaken the loctite if there was any in there) tried again
Also same thing as above while pumping fork up n down
Iknow there is a holder tool for the cartridge but on the f4i forks I dont see anywhere the tool could grab on its just a flat disc from the top from what I can see and I dont see how I could fit it in there anyhow without breaking off the damper rod as it still stays in there after taking the needle out
Please any help appreciated, this is so frustrating, a simple afternoon job turned into this mess because of a single bolt. By instinct I feel like its not even torqued that hard in right now, its just theres nothing to stop the damper frm spinning wit it.
Thanks in advance

What do u mean by 1/2? w used a 1/2" drive impact gun if thats what u meant and we did pulse it over and over all it did was spin along with the impact.
do u mean have the fork cap out and try to pull out the damper cartridge while using the impact? may be tricky to hold it but i havent tried that il give it a shot

I just tried it and Im extremely sorry to say it didnt work
we tried all sorts of pulsing rhythms while pulling up on the cartridge, at wits end and may take it to a shop this wknd maybe they have stronger impact guns or something🤷♀️ ugh! thanks though for your suggestions.
