Fluke Multimeters for use on an F3
 

My school requires me to have a multimeter for my program, they sell the Fluke 179 for around 200 bucks, my question is, is this a good enough meter to use for testing just about everything on my bike, or do I need to go to a higher level to do that?

Depending on your money situation ... but you are a student ...so you probably don't have a lot of money to throw around ... I would go with a cheaper one. Ebay has bunches . The only thing you'll miss out on is temperature readings.

Well, I would definitely get one at least that expensive, 200 isn't a huge deal for a multimeter since I need it for work later on most likely anyways. I just wanted to know if it will do everything on the bike as well, like cdi box, spark plug wire checks, if anything knows much about them.

fluke 88 is the best. its what i use

I got a 1.99 special from harbor freight, works just fine for what I'm doin. (checkin for voltage, continuity, just the basics.)

I got a $20 cheapo from Autozone which works great for my purposes and helped me diagnose a bad R/R when I first got my bike and it has many different functions. I would say if this is the cheapest you can go, it (the one you're looking at buying through school) will serve you very well and you shouldn't need anything better for anything you might need on your bike.

+1 88's a good meter. I think 87 III's are pretty good, that's what I use at home and at work I use a 787 process meter which is super nice but only does 1A current but I use a clamp most of the time for big stuff anyway.

Its nice to see another fluke person in this world. There meters are the best thing invented.

Well, the fluke meter I'm looking at is a fluke 179 I guess it would be the base model without much accessories because it's about 210.
