+1 74demon.....

I'm just surprise waited this long to change oil after purchase....usually you rack up most miles first few months or so...
Yes, Amsoil is synthetic, but I am just not sure if the previous owner is trust-worthy. (he lied about the battery)

Yah, I should have done the oil change the day I got her. God knows when the last oil change was taken place.

on the back of the bottle, you will see the requirements that the oil meets. in that list look for JAMO-MA. rotella t6 (walmart) is about the only car oil that meets the requirement as well as almost all of the motorcycle oils designed for sport bikes.

awesome. Thanks for the tips. Is 31,000km(19,262 miles) considered 'high mileage" for motorcycles? I know some one here is going to laugh at this question and throw in some huge numbers...I am just asking a general question...not someone's personal achievement.

it's a honda.... that's just barely broken in. unless you use crappy car oil.

i had a 929 erion that i went 80,000 mi on, ran great till a truck pulled out and killed it. i'm gonna rebuild that motor and save it for my current 929. i got 15,000 miles on that one, so i have a while. btw... rotella t6, in both.

thats good. i hope we avoided the wrong oil disaster. your next thread would have been "i just changed my oil and now the clutch slips."

change oil often, use good parts, keep it clean, and maintain everything. that bike should last a long time.

FWIW,I used the Amsoil motorcycle oil in my old 900RR with no issues. I'd use it to this day if a dealer was close by.
