Default FI light 2001 CBR 600 F4I

I recently bought a 01 cbr 600 and the FI light came on today. It doesnt come on right away only after riding it for a while, it really seems to come on when I really lay into the throttle. When I shut the bike off and turn it back on it goes away. How do I read the error code for the FI light and what do the different number codes mean. Also, when the bike is on the kickstand and ignition on the FI light does not come on. Please help.

Does the light remain on? or does it blink? if the later count how many blinks and the fine fellows on this community will surely help you sort it out.

Yes, what tamahda said. Count the blinks, fast blinks and slow blinks or not blinking at all. Report back what you see.

You will need to jump the diagnostic connector under the seat to get it to flash codes.

What's with all of the speed sensors around here failing recently?

OP, does your Speedo do wacky things?

I think my speed sensor is failing.

For some time now when I first start up the speedo is fine but after 200 or so yards it drops to zero, it can stay like that for a mile then comes back and works fine for the rest of the 30 miles to work.

If it does go to zero for that long?(sometimes shorter) then the FI light comes on solid. A cycle of the ignition extinguishes and it won't do it again usually until the next morning.

This evening it happened and when I parked up I noticed the solid light start flashing. I noted one long followed by one short.

And this is where I ended up!

Thought I'd post my experience in case anyone else comes across it, it isn't bothering me a whole lot but since I now have the code I wonder how hard this part is to replace?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
