Question F3 headlights different?

Ok here's my situation, i bought a '95 F3 a while ago and it was stunted so it was pretty rough. Parts here and there in boxes.. Some was kinda mix & match.. But my current problem is i have a headlight that was zip-tied to the chopped front fairing stay w/o the fairings on. The dude used to have the fairings on it and they fit so i'm thinking maybe i have '95 plastics, but a '97-'98 headlight? Or vise versa.. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It looks to me like you have a 95-98 upper. I think the 95-98 F3's all share the same upper fairing and headlight. I think the only thing that changed between 96-97 was the tail section.

As for the headlight. It looks like an F2 headlight. They are similiar, but the F2 headlight was almost straight across the top where the F3 had a V shape to it.

The good news is you can probably sell the F2 headlight and get back some of the cost of getting a replacement F3 headlight.

It looks like you have an after market one piece front upper. Sometimes those arent the greatest fits. I bought one for my bike and the headlight that used to fit perfectly into my 3 piece front upper is now about a quarter inch off where the headlight is concerned.
Theres nothing i can do about it. If i shaved it then it would throw the other side off.
I have never seen an f2 light up close but it looks to me that the light in the pic is an f3 one.
Do the bolts for the housing line up correctly? or is just the light off center?

The bolt holes line up pretty good, it's just the the light won't fit properly. Like trying to fit a square into a circle hole.. When i look close, the top of the light does look more like a straight line when the fairing has more of a slight V shape at the top..

On my f3 the fairing looks to have a bit more of a rounded angle at the top, where the headlight is. Yours (fairing) looks to be at an even more subtle angle. Where the headlight is i think that opposed to the fairing you have the right light but the fairing is just not contoured correctly. Especially with those after market fairs that is something you have to watch out for. I think the only way you will be able to tell if an f2 light will work better is to try it. Otherwise you may have a funky fair on your hands.

Dang.. Now i gotta go find a (for sure) F2 light and a (for sure) F3 light to see if it's just my fairing.. Fun fun
