Engine Rattle developing between 3.5 - 5.5k
Hey guys, since I bought the bike around 9 months ago there has always been a slight rattle usually cold and especially over winter use around these RPM's, however over the last few weeks I've been out much more and this rattle seems a little more obvious than usual.
I have a hunch it may be the cam chain tensioner, but I'm basically looking for a 2nd opinion.
The rattle seems to disappear (or get drowned out) after around 6k RPM. Power seems nice and smooth through these rev's with no noticeable drop while the rattle is happening.
The bike is a 99 F4 with a shade under 30k miles on the clock.

If its coming from the right side next to the idle adjustment **** than yea prob is. I would use a mech stethoscope or long piece of hose to find out exactly where its coming from. Or you can post up a vid.
I fired it up earlier after giving it a wash and it does indeed sound like the rattle is coming from the right hand side, kinda level with the middle of the fuel tank and around the height of the right fairing vent.
I guess it sounded central when riding because of where i was sat and my helmet etc
I have a video im uploading now where it kicks in around 5.5k with the rattle. Its not the most obvious video but you can kind of hear it over the engine, in person its much more pronounced.
Assuming it is the CCTL, anyone have any idea how much the fix/replacement generally costs?
