Got an LED relay, plugged it in.. and the tail light did fine... turn signals blinked at the normal rate.. everything works great... AND THEN... the tail light started to fade and did what it did before (in the video). If I hit the turn signal button it will light up fine and turn signal works ( at normal rate) but as soon as I cancel the turn signal the taillight is gone.

I am going to have time this weekend to take a better look at things. Going to start with Switch, then go to main harness, then plug back in OEM/stock lights and see how those work.

Thanks for the help up until now. Will keep this updated....

Angry Uhhhhhh... Houston... We have a problem

YAY.. UPDATE TIME AND I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!! Well, the taillight issue. The headlight is still out AND I THINK I KNOW WHY!!!!!!!

Just a picture walk through of what I found. (I keep my bike covered but took the cover off before I got started)

I go outside.... Oh.. hey there nice motorcycles.

You doing fine....

Appears so.... now lets get this issue figured out. I tinker around in the tail section and get nothing.... no pics because its boring back there. I move up to where the wiring harness for the headlight and most all come together(under right air dam cover). I take it off and notice something.... ZING!!!!!!!

On BOTH sides of the harness....

So I unplug it to see the damage.... and.....

and

WOW!!!! I believe this is my headlight wire. I gave it the finger, cleaned it all out with QD Electrical Contact Cleaner, let it dry, coated it with Dielectric Grease...

Connected it all back up and noticed if I giggled the wires a certain way that the taillight would work perfectly. The headlight is fried(I believe the green wire goes to the headlight). After giggling the wires the right way to get the taillight working properly, I zip-tied it tight.............

trimmed the zip-ties, tucked it back in, replaced the air dam cover and it work great.

ALSO, what would be my options for replacing the wiring harness, less purchasing a whole new headlight wiring harness??

I looked at this harness back over 2 months ago and I didn't notice the green wire being melted but I didn't look REAL close as I thought it was just for the headlight/turnsignals and front electrical components.

Any additional help/advice/comments is welcome.

well, you've sort of found the problem. but why did that happen and will it happen again? you need to fix that. if you cant get a replacement connector from a dealer, you can cut that wire out of the connector and put a single wire one in from radio shack or somewhere. the green wire is a ground that pretty much goes through the entire bike. that kind of burning means it got hot from too much resistance somewhere. bad ground connection maybe. it also goes to the r/r...

74.. thanks for the help.. I looked at an electrical diagram and it goes to basically everything(except ECM and Igntion Coils). I noticed it goes to the LP light.(i remembered something) I removed the LP light a while back and had the wire dangling. It may have gotten wet or may have touched the Brown/White wire. Would this have caused the wire to melt??? (it has been over a year ago). I guess it could have. I wrapped it in electrical tape and tucked it into the tail shortly after that. I think it sparked/touched but not too sure. NOW, that I know which specific wire, I am going to have to print the diagram out and trace that SOB to see if it is melted/messed up anywhere else. Thanks again for the help 74....

EDIT: Didn't even check the fuses. Will check headlight fuse because it used to just come on and off (2-3 months ago) but now just stays off and won't come one. My gauge light works, turn signals, and brake/running.

I didn't even think to look at the electrical diagram before I wrote this post to notice it is a ground that goes through the whole bike. I get too focused on just one issue and get tunnel vision and can't think outside the box. Thanks to everyone that has been helping me thus far with "brainstorming" and troubleshooting. It is GREATLY appreciated.

Blinker fluid... dang... I just went to the store and bought some A.I.R. and forgot to pick some up. Now since my turn signals are intergrated, where do I fill it up from. The same spot as before, or do I have to make my own spot? PLEASE ADVISE ASAFP SO I CAN GET BACK ON THE ROAD!
