Drilling Levers?

Can anyone pass on some advice on drilling your levers?

How much is too much (thickness of the hole itself)?
How far from the tip?
How many holes will suffice to let the tip break off in the event of a fall?

Thanks all

...why?

I've been reading where people drill them so the tips break off instead of the entire lever getting torn up in a fall...that way you can make it home.

You buy shorty levers then...

Why spend more money for it when you can drill it...

buy it when its broke...

Good point... but to be honest unless you've got some serious levers to begin with, I can't see the aluminum holding up no matter how much you drill them.

I would guess though, if you insist, maybe a 4mm hole... ?

This is a totally valid point. Many people who do not have shorties drill levers so they if you fall and they snap, what you are left with is a shorty. I am honestly not sure exactly where how how big of a hole you should drill, but I bet you could search for it, or put this up in 600 mods, someones got to know.

If you look close at the lever it has a mark mid way that is there for that reason. No need to dril it... at least mine do (929)
