Default Does 900 RR front rim work on a 97 - 98 F3

I am in need of a front rim and all I can find are rims for 900 RR's. In the titles of these auctions and body of these auctions, they say that a 900 RR rim will work on a F3. I looked up the rim size and it is a 17" rim. I wasn't able to see what years the RR uses a 120/60/17 tire size. All I could find was 130/70/17. Is this possible to use a rim from a 900 RR? If so, what years

marc0011,

I know that the 17" front 600F3 wheel is a bolt-on replacement for the 96-97 900RR front wheel. So I would think that the 96-97 900RR rim would bolt on to the F3 (using the F3 hardware and rotors).

Now, that being said, the 900RR wheel is a 16" wheel, not 17". All years of the 900RR used 16" rims for the front. Lots of people use the 600F3 wheel on the front of their 900RR's (like mine), for better tire selection and different handling characteristics.

Don't do it!

Hhhmmm... that is what I was finding. No 17" rims for 900 RR, I have a 17" 5 spoke rim and my rotor won't fit. The rim is exactly the same with exception center of the rim. It is diameter is just slightly too big for my rotors or the inside diameter of my rotor is too small. I looked at the hub and they are physically different by just a little... enough for my rotors to not fit. I would buy another set because I one of mine is starting to wear out. The thing is that I just don't know what to get. I looked around on the rim and found where it is stamped with 17", so the rim size is the same. Do you know if 95-94 front rims are different than 97-98 front rims?

Wow. Maybe the rim you have is not from an F3, but maybe a VFR or RC51. I used to have an F3, but never had to mess with the rims on it. I'm pretty sure that the 91-94 F2 front rim is diferent from the F3 front rim, too. I think it is narrower or something. May be a good idea to post your question in the 600F3 section on this forum. I don't know enough about what you have or what works on the F3.

If it was me, I would just look for a 1995 to 1998 F3 front rim only. Stay away from the 900RR front rim.

Hope this helps.
