decats fitted now over fueling
hi
just got some decat pipes (black widows) and a akrapovic titanium slip on,on my cbr600fa 2012.picked her up this afternoon and it looks and sounds great.
advised by the mechanic that theres a little bit of smoke which he suggested maybe down to over fueling as a result of the change, anything in particular i should be aware of,sight, sound, smells ?
taking her out for a long ride tomorrow to ensure any paste or residue is burnt off, will over fueling be detrimental to the engine in the short term ? guess i would have to dyno the bike ?
thanks

continued and done a decent run out and burnt off what i could, now left with a little bit of smoke, only really noticeable when first turned off,odd smell of fuel but nothing regular.guess fitting down pipes on a non flashable ecu was,nt my brightest move
very eager to learn what this will do to the bike in the short term looking at around £500 to £600 for power commander and install set up,mapped, ouch !

I heard K & N sucks. BMC race filters I've heard are pretty good. Also Pipercross. But from what I understand the only reason a so called better filter flows more air is because it has less filtering ability.
The stock filter flows more than enough, provided it's clean. K&N has been proven to be more restrictive, but the advantage is that it's reusable. BMC is close to the best of both worlds.
Running a little rich won't hurt anything, maybe even help. It's when an engine that runs lean that damage will occur.

Because of the decreased back pressure of the new slip-on you are flowing more fuel mix.
Best to hold hand ~8inches behind exhaust for 10sec, bike idling. then smell and touch tounge to hand checking for raw gas. (safety and environmentally not good, and if you have emissions testing its an Automatic Fail) Bike wise it'll still run fine. Just some blowby happening. At higher RPMs it decreases.. So if ever pulled over for speeding tell the cop when he asks why.. Im doing it for the environment!!
As already suggested be sure you put in a new air filter and keep it clean to increase air intake that will help some.
The new ECM will fix it altogether by dialing back your injection timing.
Its true with aftermarket filters like K&N they work better for flow because they filter less. All are like that really. Best to stick with regular filters, maybe add a ram air if desire. But be sure to blow them clean now and again to clear away the dirt you might not see.(from inside out 40psi).
If really concerned slap the OEM pipe back on until you get the new ECM. Then using a sniffer build your maps for the new slip-on. And build your maps using a dyno. This way you have some for daily rider, and some for when you want to tear it up..
