Converting 2004 600RR forks to 2005 Inverted Forks...Need Help!!
I need info from anyone out there on how to go about changing my 2004 600 RR front forks to the inverted 2005 front forks.
I am being told, by different people, that I will need the front forks (of course), new front calipers, clip-on's, upper and lower triples, pretty much everything off the 2005 except the front axle and tire.
Anybody have any links to conversion threads or anyone info they can share with me?
This will be next winter's project, so I got some time, but I want to start thinking about getting the parts now and researching to find out what I will need to do to get this done.

You're going to need everything.
Upper and lower triples
clip-ons
forks
calipers
rotors
fender
wheel
and you might get away with using your old master cylinder and brake lines and possibly you'll neednew stem bearings.
It really looks like more work than it is, just a lot of small, switching-over stuff. And you can do it all without the need for a special stand by using a floor jack.

Thanks man, I found a full conversion write up on 600RR.Net on how to do it...
I won't need new rotors or wheel, which is good, because I bought Galfer's for the 2004.
I will need new clip-on's.

I'm not so sure I understand the question.
The forks do not need to be rebuilt. I just want to put the inverted forks on my bike with the gold shock tubes.
It's next winter's project.

Yeah if you can get the parts for a decent price, inverted forks are a great addition, IMO. Sooooo much simpler to service - dey be lookin' da trick stuff too, yo
swapping to inverted forks for the bling factor and looks is what most do.
function-wise inverted forks are stiffer...
but a rebuilt fork with valving, etc...less trouble, and will ride better than an invertedswap with stock internals...
best would be inverted and rebuilt...but unless you're racing...not necessary at all.
