Completely dead 90’ cbr1000f
New to the forums so hello everyone!
Was just given a 1990 cbr1000f and struggling at the first hurdle Put in a new battery as last one was dead and there is absolutely no sign of any life, even when key is in on position nothing is turning on or happening. I went ahead and replaced the 30A main fuse but still nothing. Ive heard on this forum that the stator and regulator rectifier on these bikes are notorious for going bad so i feel like my next step would be to replace the r/r but any input is appreciated! |
No, stator and RR only deals with re-charging battery and has nothing to do with starting bike.
Measure following: 1. Battery voltage with everything OFF. volts=??? https://drive.google.com/uc?export=d...kHEseYDqBhMqEr 2. Voltage at B-terminal of starter solenoid. volts=??? https://drive.google.com/uc?export=d...lCkxHJ6jo6lM6_ 3. Backprobe 30a main fuse. Terminal 1 volts = ??? https://drive.google.com/uc?export=d...Gi0UzuEO2YgIn9 4. Main fuse terminal 2 volts=??? https://drive.google.com/uc?export=d...yJ6T1al6_Ey2d4 These numbers will tell us everything we need to know to fix bike. This is 5-minute fix with multimeter (or less). |
went ahead and tested all shown, it all reads 10-11 so there is power
Update: just realized the connector looks like this: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/cbrforu...6a0dab51d.jpeg Would this cause the entire electrical to not work? (im not very electrical literate sorry) |
That's not a problem. Battery is extremely weak. Put on trickle charger for 48-hrs and let's check again.
