Completed CCT mod... Now another problem
Ok, I completed the CCT mod that has been mentioned here before (flaring the pin), however now I have a much louder and more obnoxious noise coming from in front of the CCT. It appears to be coming from the engine case and I'm hoping it's not a valve or something more serious?!
I have not ridden it, it's still up on the lift. After starting it and letting it warm up is when the noise becomes apparent. It will do it at idle once it has warmed up and after revving theengine, the noise is more prevelant after getting off the throttle.
any ideas? Who's a mechanic and can help me diagnose? TIA!

RE: Completed CCT mod... Now another problem
Hey Tahoe, thanks for responding...
Yeah, I think it extended, but like I mentioned it was a biatch to get at. Getting a screwdriver in there that was small enough was tough. Dammit, why don't you live closer so that you can come over and look at it??? LOL!
How am I going to be able to tell if it is extended or not?
I should have just lived with the small rattling that I had. Hindsight it always 20/20.

RE: Completed CCT mod... Now another problem
hey so explain to me exactly what yo did.
1. did you retract the cctl head/pin before installing it or did you just pull it out and then stick it back in?
2. once you pull out the cctl it will extend fully. if you stick it back in like that, it most likely won't fit...but if it does...you'll have too much tension on the cam chain.
check the attachment...
so basically...take off the rear bolt of the cctl then insert screwdriver, turn it clockwise to retract the pin, you'll feel springlike tension...let go and then it'll stop when it hits the cam chain...then you're done. shouldn't be anymore rattling associated with the cctl.
