Default Colouring a light bulb?

So one of my turn signal bulbs went out and although I have found plenty of places with replacements nobody has orange coloured replacement bulbs.

Has anyone experimented with coating/colouring a clear bulb? I was thinking even orange marker/highlighter may work but don't want to ruin the bulbs.

Thanks!

not sure about paint, but they make these little coloroed rubber boots that you put on a light bulb that are made for coloring it. you should be able to find them at lowes or ace
