I would definately ask them how they tested them, what the readings were and have them show you. They should measure the resistance of the coil. there is a specific range that they need to fall into, and they should be able to tell which one is bad.. Also, if they are telling you all coils are bad, they are not being truthful,.... there is no way they will all fail. Its possible one is faulty, but no way all of them are. Oh, and there is no way they can test them without removing them. They need to be tested out of the bike with an ohm meter. Again, no way all are bad.
Far too often, they look at the diagnosis book and guess at what it is. They arent paying for it, so they use you as the diagnostic tool by eliminating all of the possibilities, even though it cost you a lot of money. And most dealerships don't have mechanics that have any idea of what they are doing. Most of the time, its some kid in the back that knows less about bikes than you, looking at a book for answers.
Another thing to consider. They must give you the faulty parts when they replace the bad ones. If its under warranty, they don't have to, but if your paying for new parts, the old parts are yours.
