chain&sproket kits

Im thinking of doing a chain and sproket kit on my 954. I hear from some that a 520 xring chain is better and will last longer than my stock 530 chain. I have also heard the opposite. Im going to drop a tooth on the front sproket and add one to the rear. Should I use the stock 530 or shuold I go with a complete 520 conversion kit? Are there any other/ better options to go with? Im open to suggestions. Thanks.

My buddy did a -1 front and a +2 rear on his 954, HOLY SMOKES!!!!! You can hardly keep the front wheel down!! I like the 530 chains myself, I have no reason, just that I have always had them. X-ring is the only way to go!!

Hey thanks for the input. My 954 loves to stand up stock. I cant wait to see what it does with a sproket kit.

The main difference is weight. I did the conversion with one down in front only and it made good difference. The Vortex sprockets are considerbly lighter than stock. Keep in mind, it will drop the top end and run higher RPMs at highway speeds. I guess thats not important with a name like "wheeliemonster". It will however, allow power wheelies with easy gear changes after its up. For the money, its a great performance upgrade IMO.
