Default Cbr600 f2 Engine

Hi all looking for some advice I have a 1992 Cb600f2. The bike was a friend of mine who has passed away. I found the bike for sale on line the lad that bought it was braking it so had to buy it. As you's can imagine the bike is missing a good few parts carbs tank exhaust front brakes and all plastic. But before my friend sold the bike he was telling me it locked up looks like it could be the gearbox. So what I was wondering is would a Honda hornet 600 engine be the same the number on it is pc25e 2221818??? And if any one has any cheap parts that would help me build it back

I've got a 98 Hornet - and off the top of my head (but not definitively) I think the Hornet and CBR engine are essentially the same and should bolt straight in - the carb inlet boots on the CBR are a different shape (the carbs on the CBR are sat higher up and at a sharper angle than the Hornet) plus the Hornet comes with a Pair valve box and associated tubing attached to the front of the engine which can be removed and the redundant pair ports on the engine blocked off with a couple of small plates.

If you look on Ebay at CBR/Hornet engines for sale you can visually compare the two.

Is the reason that you want to fit the Hornet engine because there is one easily available?
