Default cbr 600 f3 1998 engine

Hi guys. I own a cbr f3 1998 model for few days. Wikipedia says that this f3 last model has a revised engine over the previous f3 models.

Someone knows in what those upgrades consists?

Thank you!

I'm not sure whats different from 95 to 98, but I have some magazines from that era and I remember reading that the later F3's had more power than the earlier models. Actually, some of the last F3's had more power than the 99 F4's that was supposed to be better than F3's. And when the F4 did come out the then current AMA factory Honda racers didnt care for it, they liked the F3 better. But of course they didnt say that in public, since they were officially Honda employees.

Well, just for ****s & giggles, you could take it to a dyno to see what it has just to get a base. But that wouldnt tell you any thing as far as " if its a good one" unless there were a 95 F3, a 99 F4, all there on the same day.

I was just going threw some (not all) of my old magazines. I know you dont have a F2 (91-94) but for the sake of argument a 1991 Cycle had it listed as 79.? hp. a 1993 had it listed at 83hp. Then 95 F3 as 88hp, the 97 listed as 93hp. Then I saw some magazines list the F4 from 88hp up to 98hp. Now we all know all dynos read different, and the only real way to compare is "same day/same dyno". Anyhow, they did mention updates for the 97 F3 included a lighter starter. Also a bigger muffler, which they said was responsible for the hp increase. And all the same size velocity stacks, previous years had different sizes for cylinder 2 and 3. And for 97, a little different timing for cylinders for 2 and 3 because the middle cylinders run hotter the the outer 2.
Now the real question, how does your bike run? Do you have something to compare it to? My F2 sat in my garage for quite a few years after I quit racing. In the meantime I bought a brand new 08 CBR 1000rr and rode it for a few years on the street. Then decided to do some track days on the old F2. Tuned it up and that stuff and off I went. And even after riding the big 1000 I still thought the F2 ran friggin great, even though it has only 86 horsepower (there was a dyno at the track, had to see what she had) compared to the 1000 that has 150some. And weighs about the same.
