CBR 1000RR stolen

Recently, my bike was stolen, but recovered within 2 hours of being reported. Thanks to LoJack. My question though is does anyone know what could have been done to the ignition so swiftly without any visisble damage? I feel like if I had some idea of how the mechanics of the ignition worked I might be able to better protect my bike from this happening again.

Buddy if they want your bike they're going to take it. No amount of bells and whistles will prevent it and at most only offer, "peace of mind," which usually translates into complacency.

Good work on the Lo-jack, though. They do work so long as they remain ina service area.

As for the ignition depending on how clean your bike was you should be able to tell if anyone was trying to make a key or something - unless they were pros. How did they steal it? Put your bar lock on?

You can do all you want to disable it from starting, but the most popular method of theft involves multiple perps and lifting the bike into another vehicle. A couple of big or determined cats can do that in about 10 seconds and probably less if they've done it before.

I know, I know. I'm thinking whoever stole it was a pro and basically just pushed it down the street and road off. The bar lock was on, but when I got it back that was broken of course along with the ignition. This time around I think I'm going to look into having a hidden kill switch added. After it's all said and done, I think the best thing is the Lo-jack and just doing what I can to make it as hard as possible to get outside the coverage area in 24 hrs.
