Default cam chain

hi all just got my bike 2 months ago and ive got a rattle in the engine when its cold and i believe its the cam chain tensioner.

will it need to be replaced or can i repair it ?or is there a manual tensioner that i can use?

i D/Led the manual.

i presume that a new gasket is needed?

is it a simple job or will i need to pay?

GREAT forum btw.

What kind of bike do you have?

The CCT is easily replaced and can not be repaired. APE does have a manual CCT, but becareful not to over tighten.

What makes you think it's the CCT? If it is it is a really simple job. You should get a haynes repair manual, it will tell you every thing you need to know and more.

it's the cctl not the cct...as far as the F3, i believe it's much easier to do than the F4 or F4i. yes you'll need a gasket. don't take it to the dealer. just need time and patience.
as far as repairing...it's not really broken, it's just loud. there are ways to fab the cctl so it doesn't rattle anymore.

hi and thx for the posts.
let me just clear this up, my rattle is intermitant and only does it in the mornings and u wont hear it again all trough the day, as my bike gets used frequantly during the day.
it sounds like a cam chain, as u rev it to say 2rpm the rattle stops then as soon as u off the throttle and bring it to idle, thats when u can hear it, it definitly sounds like it coming from between the gap on the3rd and 4th cylnder, so presume that the tensioner isnt tensioning.
some 1 has said the me that it may be a lube prob and that it may not be getting oil when its stood for a few hours?

as for haynes manual, i wish, im sorta inbetween jobs till monday, i have a word for word instructions from a haynes manual and it seems quite easy except for the key they talk about , the manual says a srewdriver will do lol.

what u guys think?

CCTL will do it under load, not just at neutral. if it's not doing it under load as well, i would say it's something else. also, could be a leaky exhaust.
