Default Caliper Piston Seals

Anyone know where I can find brake caliper piston seals for my 89 CBR 600F? I just rebuilt the rear caliper and would like to replace the seals. The fronts may be coming next, depending on their condition. Thanks.

I wouldn't use anything less than genuine HONDA seals they dont cost the earth and there's no way I would use aftermarket products on my steering or brakes...... but each to there own some have diferent principals on here so go with your own instincts and use what you feel comfortable with. my advice is free and ALWAYS safe...

i agree...i rebuilt mine using all honda parts...total for both front calipers was about $70 of new seals and rings...and that was with a discount...no leaks, etc.

Off topic...

mike...from another post, it seems you're very versed in hondas...
can you elaborate to some folks here of your view in regards to the cctl design? in particularly, all the guys who've been having troubles with the F4i's?

i want to see what a honda mechanic's take on it is.

thanks,

T

I agree about using the correct parts for brakes and suspension. Was it $70 for just the 8 seals? (2 per piston)

Also, the brakes are not made by Honda, so it seems that getting the seals from the brake manufacturer would make sense, right?

no there were some other ones involved too, not just the ones on the piston...if you check out ronayers.com you'll see all of them.

i rebuilt it for the F4i, but i don't think it would be much different from caliper to caliper as far as number of seals.

Thanks for directing me to that site. It appears that my calipers only require 4 seals each, as they are only 2 piston calipers. It looks like the F4's are 4 piston, which would explain why you needed more seals.

Thanks again.
