Default how much slack in the chain?

how much slack should i have? and is that measured from one extreme to another?

Should be between 1 - 1 3/8th" according to the service manual. And yes, from one extreme to the other.

No the 929 is 1.6 - 2.0 in of slack by the manual. but go to the tight side when you are sitting on the bike.
