RE: brake lines

The same way you bleed brakes on a car... adjust the lever to full out, pump up the pressure, hold it, and open the bleeder without letting go of the lever, close the bleeder, let go of the lever, top up brake fluid if necessary, repeat.

RE: brake lines

I use a glass jar that has 1/4 fluid in it, I attach clear pvc tubing that fit snuggly over the bleeder valve, then do wot knightslugger suggested. Keep the tube immersed in the brake fluid & as you pump the brakes you can see the air bubbles as they move down the tube. It realtively easy, just make sure everything is clean & be methodical. make sure you don't over fill the resevoir, but top up as you go. as for the front brake, make sure you remove all excess fluid after you refit the cap, excess has a nasty habit of dripping out, and will destroy paint. Don't get it right the 1st time, just do it again till yer get it right.

bleeding without vac is fine, but if you're swapping lines and not just bleeding...then saev yourself tons of work and get the vac.
