First oil change

First oil change
So i did my first oil and filter change. I went through about 3 quarts exactly. I did this on a 2006 cbr 600rr. When i turn the bike on the oil light is red and makes a siren sound for about 10 seconds, then shuts off. Well the light stays red until bike is started then shuts off. I just bought the bike 2 days ago and am not sure if this is normal, i dont remeber. My main question when the bike is on its kickstand it shows like no oil in the peak hole of the lower cowels. However if i sit on the bike upright and have a friend look at the hole when the bike is not tilted on the kickstand it shows the oil at the upper level line like it should be. What do i do here add more or no.

Kuro said it all. Perfectly normal.
Think of it this way. The light is suppose to come on when there is not oil pressure. Your key is on, it sends power to the light, yet there is no pressure, so the light comes on. As soon as you start the bike, the oil pressure builds and the light goes off. just as if you shut the bike off with the kill switch, the oil light will come as soon as the engine stops running.
the best thing I've found for checking the oil is to sit on the bike and hold it level. then, take an extendable mirror, like the ones that have a mirror on a telescopic rod, and check it that way. It works great for me. I've tried having the bike on its stand, but the stand lifts the rear of the bike a little and doesnt give an accurate reading.
so if your at the upper line with the bike level, don't add any oil, your right were you need to be.

+1 on it being normal and having to have it upright and warmed to check the level.
Though 3 quarts for a change with a new filter sounds a little low to me... I would think more like 3.5 to 3.7 qts with a new filter but if the level's good you're good to go! Be sure to check your level frequently after an oil change as air bubbles may work their way out and lower your level.
