Bike stops when put in gear
 

I recently bought a honda cbr 954 rr, 03 model.

Sometimes, specially during afternoons, when I try to put the bike into gear, the engine shuts off.

The bike starts fine in neutral, I let it idle for a couple of secs, as soon as I put into gear (I am holding full clutch), the engine just cuts off. It happens when I try to put into 1st or 2nd gear.

If I try to hold the clutch and start the bike, it doesnt start at all. The engine doesnt even try, its kinda dead.

Right now, I am missing my lunch, because the bike fails to start ! :(

First, make sure your kick stand is all the way up before putting it into gear -- there should be a sensor that detects whether or not the kick stand is up or not. If the kickstand is down and you shift the bike into gear, it'll shut it off.

If the kick stand is up, you may want to ensure the spring is bringing it all the way up. Otherwise, your kick stand sensor may be going bad.

yep, check the connection on the kickstand sensor..

i'm having the same problem with a dr200 dirtbike but theres no sensor at the kickstand any ideas?

I had an old Katana where the spring was too loose and I just used a cable tie to keep the sensor depressed. Worked out great, but just remember to keep some extras under the seat in case it happens to fall off ;)
