I have a 2006 cbr 600 f4i. I think it takes 10w. I was looking at that brand you use at my local shop and was considering it. What is the 165-150 designation?

Those are the viscosity numbers.
165 SUS viscosity and 150 viscosity index rating.

So should I go with straight 10w?

Its up to you.
Are you replacing the springs or valves too? You will notice a bigger difference with upgraded valving and springs matched to your weight and riding style over fork oil weight. Springs do wear out and lose their spring when the get some miles on them.

Well the bike only has 10,000 miles on it and this is my first season with it. Being a 2006 I figured its due for it. This is my first sport bike. I already ordered all new fork seals but I'm not going to replace anything else. I doubt the springs need replaced yet. I just don't really know where to start with picking a fluid. I don't race or go to the track. I'm just a road guy. I could go with the recommended Honda fluid but I thought there might be something better and since I'm tearing it this far down I want to make sure I get the best stuff I can and that it's the right stuff. I don't mind putting down some extra cash for higher quality.

10k miles, but 8 years old. Unless you weigh 140 pounds, the springs are not right. New springs from racetech run about $100 and worth their weight in gold. They provide better stability, braking, and control when they're set up right. Do them, you will be glad you did.

I use whatever is recommended by the fork manufacturer. An Ohlins rep said it best: "we design our forks to function with a specific fluid. When you go and put something else in there you are basically ignoring all the R&D that we put into the unit and starting over from scratch."

F4i calls for SS8 fork fluid. Good fluid but goes out quickly, by 30k it will be as black as the devils soul. SS47 is slightly heavier but lasts so much longer as well as having better stiction property's. Both are made by showa.
