Angry Battery drain

I have an 03' RR that I purchased used. It has several upgrades: Full exhaust, power commander III, speedo healer etc. I have ridden it for a few weeks now with no problems, UNTIL! I tried to reset the clock. When I pressed both buttons of the cluster to set, it sounded like there was a short somewhere. Now, when I turn the ignition on it drains the battery severely. Any one have any ideas where to start tracing the short, or has anyone had the same problem?

I'd start simple; check the battery connections, fuses, connectors, frayed or cut wires. I'm thinking after that, you'll have pull out the service manual and a multi-meter.

Thanks for the feedback. I downloaded the service manual last night, found a good site, repairmanualclub.com. It is cool, cause it was free. I will start at the battery and check the charging system forward. I fear that the regulator/rectifier may have been fried. Wish me luck!
