any clues?

what up guys i just got a 93 cbr f2 . i bought for a guy and it didn't run. he said the spark plugs fouled out. so today i replace it and it fired right up! i then tried to take it out for a test ride and as soon as i put it in to first gear it just died( stoped running). i then put it in nuetral and started it again. this time i tried to put in 2nd gear. it died again.

any takers onwhat it might be? any info would help thank you ..

Sounds like old gas. Drain the tank, maybe put 1/2 gallon of clean gas and drain again, check filter.

+1. That was my first guess. It doesnt matter what gear you go into if the kickstand is down, or the bike THINKS it's down, it will die immediately!!

i looked the kick stand does not have the switch wire.. the bike did sit for a while b4 i bought it. i think the clutch plates froze together.. all i did was put the bike on a rear stand, start it and rev it to like 5k rpms and then put it in to gear.. it shifted alil hard but the rear tire started to move once i let the clutch lever go.. i then took it out for a quick ride and it shift fine.. thanks to all

Congrats on getting it going. But unless someone took it off, I'm sure all CBR's have the sidestand safety switch (Honda's lawyers). As for the clutch plates frozen together, I would change the oil and maybe flush the crankcase. It seems that water got in or condensed in the crankcase.
