Default 99 CBR600F4 dropped/ wont start

Out on a ride today, (not even going to sugarcoat this), I was doing a u-turn, lost my balance, and fell into a curb. Aside from being really ****ing embarrassed, My whole right fairing is scratched up. No cracks though I think.

Hit the kill switch after I fell got it up finally and put kickstand down. I tried to start it, but I guess I flooded the engine. So i waited a bit (maybe 10-15 minutes) and I got it to run. I wait five minutes with it running, and I'm about to head off.

I clutch in, kick it in first.. engine shuts off. WTF? I hold in the clutch and try to start in first. Nothing happens. I kick it back in neutral and start it. It runs... But when I go to put in into first again, it shuts off. Okay...

I don't know HOW i got it to stick in first. I guess it eventually worked after trying to go from N to 1 a billion times. It took me like five minutes from going Neutral, First, Turning engine back on, Netural, First, Engine back on, etc.

Basically I made it home fine, turned off the bike. Wanted to see if it still worked so I started it fine in neutral, tried to kick it in first and it shut off again. Also, my gear lever is like.. making .. crunchy noises. It sounds different since my drop. Maybe I ****ed it up or something. It looks fine though.

Why won't it go into first?

Are you putting it in gear with the side stand still down? There is a safety switch on the sidestand.

Went out, tried without the sidestand down.. you're right. I must have been really flustered after I dropped it lol. Probably saved me from laying it down again too.

Only problems now, are (i don't know if this is supposed to be normal or not) when I go into first, it's a very loud click and a violent jerk.

it's easy to put it into 1st (though it jerks a bit) but trying to go from 1st to neutral takes forever. The lever just won't budge into the "half click." I went out there a few mins ago, it took me five minutes to get it into neutral from first. It's so fine now I can't even hit it. Like instead of a 1/2 click up, it's like a 1/10 click up and I can't even hit it without going up to second. It's completely different from before I dropped it.

Will I have to replace the lever or something?

What do I do if the shift rod is bent? That sounds expensive.

The rod between the foot lever and the shifter rod that goes into the engine. Is it bent??
