My 94' 900rr, let me tell ya. well started about a year ago, would start and run fine, then it started having problems starting. but it would adventually turn over and run great! Then i took vacation for a month, didn't have it started or anything, came back tried to start her up and nothing. so 2 weeks later i got sent to Iraq for 8 months, once again my bike was just sitting there rotting... now that i'm back, the bike has no life. i assume i need to change the battery, plugs. was told to have the carbs cleaned out as well. i took it to the local shop which is not a honda place, so i knew i was in for a raping. called them yesterday, they said an estimate of 1100, thats for a tune up and to clean the carbs. this doesn't sound right to me.. anyone with any info on what i should do please help me out, i told them to stand by and i'm gonna pick it up and take it to a honda shop.... so i'm asking what am i lookin at that needs to be replaced/fixed.. thanks again.

I hate to say it, but with shop rates these days, that doesn't sound too out of the realm of possibility. If your bike was sitting with gas in the tank, then the carbs could be coated with varnish so the repair could be pretty labor intensive. If you are mechanically inclined, rebuilding carbs with a good carb kit is not the hardest thing in the world. I rebuilt the carbs on a 1995 RF900R and that solved all the problems. Definitely take it to a couple of different shops for estimates though - and get an itemized list of what they intend to do to fix it. If you have one already, post it and I'll talk to my boys at the shop and see if they think it's legit... Good luck man
