91 CBR 600 F2 Power?

This is My first sport bike and Im kind of disappointed in the power and response.Im 6'3" and 210 pounds and I cant get the font wheel to come off the ground.Ive noticed when I first apply the throttle there is some hesitation then the bike accellerates. Some people Ive talked to say its because of carbeurators and not EFI.Im really dissapointed in not being able to pull the front wheel off the ground as I figured 600cc would be plenty. What do You guys think about this?

RE: 91 CBR 600 F2 Power?

Well a 91 600 has some power but not the power say a new 600rr has. I have a 98 and just with getting on the gas the front tire will barly come up. But that doesn't mean I can't get it up other ways. Blipping the trottle or using the clutch I can get it up no problem. If you want to get the front end of your bike up with just getting on the gas you will have to change your sprocket gearing. Drop a tooth in the front and add a couple in the back and you should have no problem. And for the hesitation it could be from the carburators not being tuned in correctly. I am guess it has an aftermarket pipe maybe? maybe a k&n air filter? and if the carbs where not adjusted for that is will have a flat spot down low. I had the same problem. I would start by just cleaning the carbs and see what happens.

After looking the bike does have a VH slip-on.Not sure about the filter but thanks for the feedback.

What has Me wondering is a guy down the road rides by about once a month. He will turn on my street which is a very rural area and stand it up in 3 gears. It is a Yzf 600r.Im guessing late 90's model.I want to acheive that performance.;)

The first things I would check are the ignition timing, using a standard timing light, and dirty vacuum slides in the carbs.

I sure your neibor is bringing the front end up in 1st gear and shifting while he is in the air. At the most he could get it up in 2nd if his gearing was different. The easist and fastest way to improve the performance would be to change your sprockets. You will lose a little top end speed. After you ride the bike for a while you will see it really isnt that hard to bring the front end up in 1st. When i first got my bike i thought I would never get the front tire up. now it takes little throttle and little effort. If you want to learn to wheelie search for it on here. Im sure there are hundreds. I wouldnt think about it though until you learn your bike.

Your a pretty big person (6'3" and 210lbs) You just need a bigger bike! If that's not an option for you then your going to have to learn to clutch it up! After all, it is a 91 CBR 600.

i agree with transamlt1man, gearing change is the way to go. if these stunters can wheelie 2 hp xr50's, than it can be done on anything. just set it up right and practice the right techniques.

wow, i just started riding and i cant get to full throttle bc the front end starts to come up. no mods that i can see. mayeb you just need to shed a few pounds? j/k i honestly dont know ive never had a power response problem with the 600. maybe you do just need a biger bike.
