Default 900RR melted wire hareness

Hi, my wire hareness leading from the stator to the voltage regulator has melted. I cut it out and reconnected the wires with plastic wires nuts, which worked fine for about 500 miles. Now they're melted and the wires arn't connected so my bike keeps breaking down as soon as the battery dies.
My question is why does that connection keep getting so hot and what do I do to fix it? I already have a new stator and battery. Do I need a new Regulator-Rectifier?

HELP I CAN'T RIDE!!

R/R is prolly toast. Well 99% likely is toast since you replaced the stator and battery. Grab the manual and a voltmeter to confirm. Then replace the r/r.
