600f2 that dies
Hey guys...I am new to the site......I just had a quick question for you more mechanicly inclined riders out there. I start my bike with the choke on, let it run for about 10 seconds, then take the choke off......It idles for about 5 minutes then dies and won't restart again....it seems like the motor is flooded...Any Ideas? I was thinking the float in the carb......Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Ok...how many miles are on it?? It is possible if the bike sat for a long time that the carbs could need cleaning, or your air cleaner is dirty. Have you serviced it recently?? It sounds like it is "choking" and if the air filter is dirty it will run with the choke but once the "enrichiner circuit A.K.A. choke" is turned off it cannot breathe..
And I have stated in the past on this site..your valve clearances need to be in spec or at least in the ballpark to run properly. This is a HIGH PERFORMANCE engine and it needs; like any engine; Spark, Compression, and Fuel to run. This is true on Lawnmowers, Cars, Motorcycles, ect....So if your valves are out of whack it will affect the compression if it is severe enough..and as a side efffect the way it is "breathing"
I would start with the air cleaner first though..it may be that simple
OH and as a STUPID question...the gas is TURNED ON right?? and it isnt low on fuel, which means it needs to be on "RESERVE"..
Just had to ask...
Good Luck

No, I rode it the day before it happend for about 100 miles, and the air filter is new.....It started about an hour ago, so I put it into the trailer....which leads me to believe the floats needed to drain......It is going in for a tune up monday, hopefully it was just a patch of bad gas in the lines....cause I took all the gas out and put in new gas (I filled up at a ****ty gas station and I believe the gas could have been bad)...but thanks for the reply.
