2nd Passenger Help
I have a high mount exhaust on my 02 F4i that is restricting me from having a passenger. The rear footpegs are able to go on fine, it is just that the passenger would have to keep their heal on the right footpeg which is extremely uncomfortable or risk burning the back of their leg from the hot exhaust. Is there some sort of way I can wrap the exhaust in some sort of material so that they can rest there leg up against the exhaust, or am I going to need to do some serious modifications to my exhaust. I really like how it looks as a high mount but I also would really like to take the ladiez for a spin you know. Are there any other possible modifications I could do to the exhaust with fairly little work and low cost?
Please send me your ideas |
sell me your highmount cheap and get a standard mount exhaust.(jk) what brand is your highmount. My cousin's old bike had a micron and it was not an issue but I've read alot of similar posts to yours. Personally I leave the ladies off so I can ride harder.

LOL you wish!! Ya I have a micron. I hear ya on leaving them off but it is days like today when I hit our local loop through some awesome turns for miles and then finish it off beachside in daytona beach Florida where the ladies are at and they all want a rude :). What did ur bro do?

Riding with a passenger is more fun (To me) than riding alone. It gets boring by yourself after a while.
If you want to make your exhaust cooler, go with a carbon fiber can. They dont hold heat like metal ones do. That being said, I have heard not to run a CF can on a dyno, or on the freeway for long periods of time, as they will destroy themselves. Maybe the can technology has advanced or maybe this is still a problem, I dont know. Look into it because that is all you can do. You could ceramic coat your exhaust, but getting the headers and midpipe wont do much if the can is still hot, not sure if you can coat that. Im sure someone would love to trade you for your exhaust though. If you want it to sound like a lawnmower ive gotta nice stock can... They also wouldnt burn their feet if they had boots on. They wont look too pretty with a bunch of burned and scarred skin.. |
It's not the can but rather the neck of the pipe into the exhaust

but seriously though, does anyone know of some sort of heat wrap if you will that I could get?

Ive seen somneone extend the footpeg out away from the pipe more using spacers. I'd try that route before you wrap the pipe and make it all fugly. A couple of longer bolts and a some cutdown pipe for spacers and it should move the foot far enough away from the pipe.

Silly boy, maybe you can ride harder solo but giving them a ride now generally helps along you getting one later :p.
Foxens, My cousins micron had a heat shield that covered the midpipe so it didnt burn the passenger. |
