Default 2017 cbr1000rr abs LOUD sound after using rag as a sprocket jammer

I was using a rag as a sprocket jammer to loosen the front sprocket. As I turned the wheel (there was resistance) I get the rag about half way up the rear wheel and I hear a loud sound. Not sure what happened, I haven’t noticed anything broken, I also have no rode the bike yet as I’m waiting on a new airbox and fuel tank.

what could have caused this loud noise? Did I do major damage to internals? Hopefully I didn’t crack anything… I didn’t think that much tension would cause any issues. Hopefully I’m right.

@Blyat1000rr I can't begin to imagine what it might have been. By hand, I don't think it's possible for you to impart enough force into the chain and sprocket, while loosening the front sprocket bolt to damage anything in the drive line. I typically use a 2x4 through the rear wheel and above the swing arm. How does it feel now with the wheel and sprockets? Wheel spins freely, no noises out of the sprockets or wheel as you spin it by hand?

@IDoDirt wheel spins fine. I don’t hear any noise, but I did find another thread where someone experienced the same exact thing. They said they ended up having a cracked back plate but didn’t notice until months later. So to play it safe, I suppose I should inspect the gearbox.

@IDoDirt question for you… I am removing clutch basket, but I think something is in the way. I looked up the crankshaft counter weight, how can I move that?

Just by putting a wrench on the bolt that is on the end of the crankshaft. You should be able to rotate the crankshaft clockwise relatively easily.
