2006 cbr600rr clutch freeplay

Hello all, I just left the dealership where i bought my bike about 7 months ago. I got the 4000 mile service with 5100 miles on the bike. When I left there was almost 0 freeplay in the clutch lever (just enough to fit a quarter in the gap). I questioned this and the service manager called the tech over and they both assured me that this was the right setting. I questioned them repeatedly as I know my manual states it should be about a 1/2 inch (i can't recall the exact measurement at he moment). As i drove away and it didn't feel right. I readjusted it myself to what i think was right felt. Please tell me if the dealer is right or am i. also they put to much oil in, what are the effects of that?

Thanks,

Ty

Mine has about the thickness of a nickel of freeplay. There should be a little, I dont know about a half inch though. I believe there should be a little though.

Should be at least a half inch of play.

Offical is (From the manual) - 3/8 to 13/16 of an inch (10-20mm)

part of it is personal preference. I like as little play as possible.

+1 on personal preference, it won't affect the clutch. As for the oil, drain out the excess amount so that it's between the hash marks. Too much oil could be just as bad as not enough. Make sure you're looking at the oil level correctly, not on the kickstand and not on rear stands either. Both wheels on the groundwith thebike held upright. It's a good idea to geta friend to help you out.

Where are you measuring half an inch of play?

See, a half inch seems like way to much for me, just personal opinion though

Me too, I only have a teeny bit of play on all my clutches. Anything else is a waste! lol

Thanks alot for your input guys (and gals if any). I guesse the service center wasn't very conciencious. I'm gouing to talk with the service manager regarding the overfill of oil and the clutch adjustment. They also didn't tell me anything aboput my breakpad wear. Whats typical?

Thanks again,

Ty in South Florida
