2005 CBR1000RR Charging System Not Working
Hello. This is my first post on this forum so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong category to post in.
May 2015: I purchase my 2005 CBR1K with 7,000 miles
June 2016: 18,000 miles now. Bike won't start.
Battery hadn't been replaced yet, so I purchased a new battery. Bike ran well for 2 months. Then one day after stopping to get gas, won't start.
I did a lot of research and discovered that the charging system for 2004-2005 is, for lack of a better word, crap. There was a 6 year extended recall on the stator and flywheel I believe.
So, bike not starting even with new battery. I did what anyone else would and replaced the stator and R/R (cheap ebay ones). That was a mistake. Worked for about 5 days. Bought a Rick's Motorsports stator and r/r. Worked for about 5 days. I've just replaced the flywheel with the OEM 06-07 flywheel. When I rev the bike, the voltage goes up, so it charges, but I guess it doesn't charge enough.
Battery was at 12.64v (bike turned off). I just went for a 30 minute ride. The battery is now 11.94v (bike turned off).
I'm really lost at this stage. Please send whatever ideas you have my way. Thank you in advance.
TL;DR: New battery, Ricks stator + R/R, and new flywheel. Charging system still not working.
