2000 CBR 929 No start problem

So I am pretty new to the whole bike situation. I just purchased my buddies 929 from him and am having problems getting it to start. He just got it back from the shop and had it worked over for anything that might have been wrong. New bat and sparks, however it got dropped and he could not get it to start anymore being frustrated I got a great deal. Anyhow, when I try to start it I here a clicking from the fuse panel underneath the seat. Any help on where I should start on fixing this? I have checked all the fuses and they are all good. Thanks.

Sounds like a loose terminal connection. Pretty common after leaving the shop... ;)

Also, if the stand is down, make sure it's in nuetral. The bike will not start with the sidestand down and in gear, and if it's put into gear with the sidestand down it will kill the bike.

Any reason you started with a friggin' 929? A little background... info... ?

Who are you!!! :D

Try removing the tilt sensor located under the seat and check the contacts. If they are good try tilting it side to side. When the bike falls over it trips and won't let the bike start. I've seen the activator inside can get stuck and not go back into position. Move it around and see if you can get the bike to prime the pump. If you can hear the fuel pumppriming when you turn the key onthen this is not your issue.

Fyi the clicking is the fuel cutoff relay, and starter relay. The starter relay and fuel cutoff relay both click at about the same time when the key is turned on thenabout asecond later there should be another click to stop the fuel pump once primed. These relays are under the seat as well one by the positve battery terminal and one next to the tilt sensor. Both have wires going to them and are in rubber protective sleaves.

I have always wanted a bike, and could not pass up the deal. $1500 for something I figured I could fix easy. I am pretty good with cars and electrics so I figured why not.

But good news got it up and running! :) Got under the seat and checked all the wires and fuses everything seemed to be in working order, a buddy came over and thought it was maybe the battery. I was a little sceptical seeing that all the lights worked and the fuel pump was firing up. But we put a 1amp trickle charger on it and what do you know 2 hours later I got a running bike.

Guess now all I gotta do is learn to ride the thing huh? Thanks for all the help too.

Next up on the fix list some crack work and a little sticker removal.
