Hey guys, went to DMV to register my 1998 F3. DMV guy (after waiting in the cold for 45 minutes) could not find my engine number and I was too stupid to bring tools. I haven't checked yet but without taking off ALL the fairings, do you guys know where the ENGINE number is located on this bike? Is it on the clutch side? Which fairings have to come off? I have to go to CHP next week and I want to be able to take off the fairings and make SURE they find it, so I figured I'll find it first for them this way I don't have the same issue.

Are they looking for a number matching the VIN? What happens if you've thrown a rod and have to replace the motor?

Or is this a California Vehi-**** thing?
