1996 cbr600F3 not getting gas
I have 1996 cbr600F3 i was driving down the road last week and the bike started tobog out then diedas ifi ran out of gas which had happened a day before. the bike started a couple times after with the choke on but would idle at around 500 then die and now it wont do any thing its not getting gas for some reason. i check the lines and fuel filter, then i realized that the fuel pump wasnt kicking in when i turned the key ahead so i tried a new one and still nothing. does anyone have anyidea what the problem could be any imput would be great thanks
your approach of throwing parts at it is not the best way to get it fixed. odds are that your fuel pump relay went bad, and the pump is absolutely fine. a proper diagnosis by testing parts and troubleshooting instead of simply throwing new parts at it is the least expensive and most effective way to fix it.
Look at the relay, when the motor is cranking, check to see if there is power going to the pump from the relay. I remember on my Hurricane, the pump only works when the motor is actually running, so you might as well check that out.
correct me if i am wrong but only modern FI bikes make a whirring sound when the bike starts. a older f3 that isn't fuel injected will not make that noise.
The F3 has a fuel pump, but whether or not you hear it when the bike is running I dont know. very unlikely that you would be able to. being its carbed though, I dont think it needs a pump, just run it gravity feed.
The F3 fuel pump doesnt make any noise. What you should do is check the bands around the carb insulator boots. They carb insulator boots connect the carbs to the intake manifold. All the bands were loose on my bike and I could barely get the thing to run. After checking those, check to make sure that the intake is working correctly. Check all the hoses leading up to the airbox and make sure they are connected correctly. These are the things that I would start with before moving onto testing the electrical components.
