Default 1990 600 F1 Wont start now, need help

I just bought a 1990 600F1 when i was there, we jumped the bike, it started and ran. I put it in the wagon, drove home, and pulled the bike out. Then i went to walmart and bought a battery, and a fuel filter. got new gas. well the battery was the wrong size, so i hooked the old one back up and jumped it. the lights come on, horn blinkers all that works and is loud (horn). i go to start it and the light blinks and nothing happens. i fliped the kill switch back and forth a few times, nuthin. then i jumped the selinoid, nothing again. it clicks , but dosnt turn. ? I dont understand it was runnin not even 5 hours prior. Any suggestions? Thanks - John

i would say voltage regulator. will sporatically kill your battery, even if its showing a surface charge of 12.5-13.5V+. is the solenoid clicking like its actually trying to turn the engine over, or is it slower and a much quiter click?

Well the problem is with the soleniod, Have you checked the fuse located in the relay??? all the power and charge goes through this relay

Connect a 6 or 8 gauge wire straight from the battery positive terminal to the starter terminal (follow the starter wire from the solenoid to the starter, that's the terminal you need to touch the wire to) and the same size wire from the battery negative terminal to anywhere on the starter body (anywhere but the terminal) and if it doesn't turn, the starter's bad. Sounds like the solenoid is good if it clicks when you press the starter button.
