1000f negative battery wire

Hey guys.i can't seem to find where the negative wire from the battery goes? When I bought this bike the guy literally grounded the wire on the frame with a screw...this can't be right.

These bikes do run negative earth.

It's usually bolted to engine. That cable is about 20cm long? Look and see if there's any holes on engine block within reach of that cable?

It's supposed to route under that cross frame section, but connecting to the frame is right.
