-1 front sprocket
Hey can anyone give me some solid info on dropping down one tooth on my '03 cbrrr's front sprocket? And 520 conversion? Will there be noticeable difference? Thanks

www.gearingcommander.com to play around with different sprocket set-ups.
As for the 520 conversion, you will not notice any difference unless you have a steady track time and you are trying to shave milliseconds. |
520 conv. is for weight saving. Minimal effect on the street. Will feel difference with -1 on front sprocket. Higher revs, reduced top speed and will need speedo-healer.

it effects rpms, top end and gas mileage by 5% from what ive herd and thats about right from what i have experianced. it effected my gas mileage only by 2 mpg though. it pulls a lot better all around. i can pull 1st and 2nd power wheelies easily, especially after i put a new rear tire on. i dont like doing wheelies period. every time i have done one it was by accident but, i love it when i pull one off and its smooth as butta!

Thanks to all. I went with an RK chain and sprocket set..Vortex aluminum rear sprocket. I read alot of different opinions. Some saying I won't see much difference...But WoW! This is what my bike should feel like! I had and stil have an F3 and when i purchased my rr was a little disappointed in the initial take off (maybe because it's fuel injected??). But Dropping that tooth in the front definately helped.

Good choice on the sprocket and chain. The difference you felt between the F3 and the RR is the older CBR have a smoother power delivery, and don't need as much rpm to reach peak torque.I had a heavily modded F2,made 46.6 lbs tq even with a knife-edged crank,it would beat any 600RR to at least the 1000 ft mark at the strip.
I think every sport bike needs to drop a tooth on the front.:D |
