05 600rr problems starting

need some help with this one...

I've got an 05 600rr that will fire up in neutral as long as i hold the start button down. As soon as I let go, the engine will die. The fuel pump does not prime when I switch it on in neutral...

However.... it WILL prime when the bike's in gear and i press the starter without the clutch. Also the bike will fire up and run on its own if i start it in gear with the kick stand up.

headlights and front signals dont work either. fuses seem to be fine.

could it be a bad connection in the starter or BAS? Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Just a guess, but it sounds like it could be your neutral saftey switch has gone bad. The NSS overrides the clutch switch while the bike is in neutral, but if its bad, the bike doesnt know its in neutral.

Will it start if you pull in the clutch in neutral? ...It might, but I think the NSS overrides the clutch switch, so it may not start. But if it does start, then it must your NSS

Does your neutral light come on?

has there been any work done to it?

I wouldnt think its BAS as the pump would never prime no matter what. Also, the starter works in gear, so I wouldnt think that would be a cause either.

the bike is stock. the neutral light does come on. i'll try starting it in neutral with the clutch in. any idea why the front indicators and headlights stopped working when all this started happening? the battery is fully charged btw..

Its definately a wierd one. With all those combinations all failing at the same time, I would suspect a shorted out wire somewhere. I've never heard on anything like that happening, so I'm just guessing.

I can't imagine all of those things on the same fuse. The only thing they really have in common is they are powered up by the ignition. the killswitch and or ignition switch may the be culprits.. but to have either one just fail is not normal.

Does your tail light work?

You didnt happen to jump start it recently did you? If you use improper jumping methods, you can damage electrical components.

:confused:the bike starts in neutral with the clutch in but still will die when i let go of the starter. i'm beginning to think the problem may be the starter.

the front turn signals and headlights dont work and the rear right signal stays on. the rear left is fine. when i try to turn on the right indicator when the bike is running, the engine starts to die. doesnt happen with the left signal. (all of this while im holding down the starter).

im starting to get more and more confused... haha
